BECAUSE OF  IT'S EXCELLENT ABILITY TO RAISE FISH, OUR 34FB HAS HAD REMARKABLE SUCCESS FISHING FOR MARLIN OFF RICHARDS BAY

in fact so much so that it is often said that we have done more than any other boat to put Richards Bay on the map as a hot Marlin destination.

In just over 500 engine hours, it alone accounted inter alia for 21 of the total of 43 Billfish tagged and released in the area since the inception of the ORI tag and release programme, broke the RBSC Striped Marlin record twice, won the 2005 Black Watch Billfish Tournament as well as the T&R section of the 2005 Richards bay Bonanza.

One of our charter guests, participated in the 2005 Captain Morgan challenge in Kenia - resulting from catching a fine Striped marlin >94 Kg off "BLACK WATCH"

In Dec 2007 we broke the long standing local Blue marlin record twice in two outings with fish of 270 and 316kg respectively

I often get asked what the reason is for the success that we have achieved - well it is a combination of technical factors. I often fish with rather inexperienced crew or charter guests that have very lttle to contribute and I would summarise the reasons as follows:

  1. The Boat - Blackwatch boats have a well respected ability to consistently raise fish. The superiour ride offerred by the hull also allow us to fish in rather adverse conditions yet still be safe and comfortable

  2. The Electronic Equipment - The Nobeltec navigation software most certainly give us an edge

  3. Accurate Weather - the Ocens weather packages which we sell, provide us witn accurate weather, sea surface temperatures and a wealth of other extremely useful information, which allow us to plan our outings properly and fish the right area at the right time, without fear of a nsty surprise by the weather

The table below is just a short extract from our log that should adequately prove the above......
